Hi everyone,

I've just found out I'm 8 weeks pregnant and you are almost the first to know! I've had ovarian cysts and a tumour (benign), kidney disease and then RA so this feels a bit like an unexpected miracle. I'm being really careful and will now be scouring the NRAS forum for previous threads and advice but my disease seems to be going into remission (hooray!), to be honest if it doesn't totally disappear the amount it's reduced already has made a real difference.

I was on Hydroxi, Prednisolone, Omeprazole and a very small dose of Amitriptyline and have stopped all except the pred which we're going to try to reduce and stop.

I can't quite believe the rollercoaster of the last 18 months since the RA started and now some good news BigGrin

Please let me know if there are threads hidden away that I might find useful...

Vicky xx

Thank you for the lovely comments everyone! And the clucking BigGrin

I'm going to start a blog, this weekend I hope - if I can stay awake long enough! I could currently sleep for England in the evenings but definitely have a bit more energy in the daytime than I used to.

Thanks Jenni for the info about the old forum - very useful! I can't log onto it so I shall get on to NRAS to find out how I access it, I'm sure it's just technology logistics Confused

Many congratulations Vicky! I'm now at 37 weeks, so very excited at the imminent arrival of my little miracle. I have been incredibly fortunate in pregnancy, after pretty horrific sickness at the start my RA has been in remission and I have felt fitter than I have for as long as I can remember. Pregnancy tiredness is amazing - you go to sleep and feel refreshed afterwards - very different to RA tiredness! Because of the RA I have been referred to a specialist unit at our hospital who have been brilliant and check and double check everything, which is so reassuring.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy,
Helen

Congratulations! Such wonderful news..

RA very often (for about 80%) of ladies will go into good remission.

I have had complete remission for ALL my babies which is utter bliss!

Well done for coming off the meds, I was on Hydro too and came off it at 6 weeks pregnancy!

I have resumed two meds at 6mths post-partum but that was pushing it a bit!

I enjoyed writing a blog here - it is 'Our gift'- I do have horrendous sickness though!!

Our little miracle, Grace is now a whole year and a pure pleasure- so beautiful and cherished by all her family (and there are a few of them!LOL).

Thanks for the congratulations everyone. I am loving being pregnant - 9 weeks now! I'm almost completely in remission and going to do my best to stay off meds and breastfeed for as long as possible. If the disease will let me.
Amanda, I started reading your blog and can't believe how sick you were! I've been feeling queasy, which I actually find reassuring, but absolutely nothing compared to you! Your blog's great so I shall work my way through it as I go.
Right folks, starting my own pregnancy blog this evening as I have an evening in on my own. Well, just me and 5 cats BigGrin

Thanks for suggestions of the old forum everyone, I had a lovely couple of emails from NRAS and the upshot is that I can't access the old forum as I'm too new ThumbDown

"Unfortunately your user name and password will not allow you into the old forum.
It is not in use any more so only the people who can access it are people who had a user name & password while it was active.
We are unable to link new user names & passwords with it."

"regarding the old forum – as you know we no longer have facility to issue user ids/passwords. With regard to your question about copying a blog/thread from the old system, I have also looked into this and unfortunately, that too is beyond our capabilities."

So instead I shall be reading everything else I can find!
